    So far the only problem I found with the beta is that it crashed while editing a flavour. I had to force quit it, and after that the application wouldn't open back up. So for the time being I had to revert back to the official release.

    That is not the expected behaviour - please send us a diagnostic from Flavours: menu Flavours > Troubleshooting... > Send diagnostics...

    Also, could you please try re-downloading and installing again?

    Thanks.

    I apologize, but I still cannot open the beta even after redownloading. Would I be able to send diagnostics  through an official release to find problems about the beta?

  • Nuno

    Yes, that would help! Thank you in advance.

    Alright, I sent a diagnostics report! I hope this helps! From what I saw before it crashed this beta looks very promising, I've always wanted to use an inverted dark theme with Flavours!

    Hi Patrick, could you please send me your ".hang" located at?:

    /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/Flavours_2014-06-13-100653_Patrick-Mason-Macbook.hang

    Also, could you try the Beta but turning Off SIMBL first? I noticed SIMBL is injecting code, there could be a SIMBL plugin interfering....

    Alright, I sent the hang file. And about SIMBL. I have no idea how to remove it, I've tried deleting the plugin manually several times but it keeps recreating itself whenever I open Safari.

    Awesome! Works perfectly so far. Only thing that bugs me (from some versions back actually) is the dark line below the title/toolbar area when doing bright themes. It's like a divider or something. Would love to be able to change the color and/or control the height of that element.

    Cheers,
    Anders

    The same line is actually on top of the status bar as well at the bottom of windows.

    Alright, after getting rid of everything SIMBL related and trying out the beta again I was able to successfully make a custom beta flavour without any crashes this time around. I launched my custom flavour everything showed up just fine with the exception of some tiny, ugly edging around the corners of windows (should you make them a dark color). I also checked my CPU usage just to be safe and so far it isn't using up anything extra.

    Is there anything specific you guys want us beta testers to specifically check out?

    @Patrick

    I'm glad it you were able to try out the Beta! I would say that very feature marked as *New* needs testings because, more than just development, it relies os OS X hacking. We will publish al its of known issues on the next few days (we delayed this with the rush of making the release!)

    @Anders

    Thank you for your feedback and suggestion. We will later double check Apple code if it is possible to override this separator color.

    Alright, Nuno, I'll see what I can do! So far I've found one little thing when I opened the activity monitor, there was some kind graphical issue above the scrolling bar?

    Will we be able to change the inactive state of "highlight"? and what about changing the color of the draggable columns in finder and elsewhere?

    So does this mean that Flavours 1.2 is incompatible with SIMBL? I'd really like to test out the new Flavours, but I'd rather not give up my nice 2D black Dock in Mavericks (made available by a SIMBL plugin).

    Any chance of making the two compatible?

  • Nuno

    Not saying it is incompatible with EasySIMBL (which is the SIMBL that works on current OSX versions), but it *could be incompatible* with the *old* SIMBL (which was the one running on Patrick's Mac). It should be compatible with EasySIMBL (as was before) however, any possible incompatibility should be with a particular SIMBL plugin and not with the EasySIMBL.app itself. For example, it's very likely that Flavours 1.2 is incompatible with "Finder FB Eye" EasySIMBL plugin because both attempt to theme the Finder sidebar.

    Ah, okay - thanks very much for clarifying. I'll post here if I see any problems with my particular EasySIMBL plugins. Thanks for all your hard work on Flavours!

    I get this message every time I open the store in the new beta, when it's loading the themes.

    @Philip

    If you're using cDock rest assured that, as far as I can tell, works well with Flavours. I'm using it myself with no problems.

    @FB Eye

    That error is caused by a faulty theme published with the titled "Untitled flavour" with no thumbnail. This one

    Thank you all for the feedback.

    I have one bug that's nagging me. And tell me if I have misunderstood something with regards to beta flavours.. I started working on a few themes like Nixen, Mystica, and Ninja Blue whilst on the non-beta of Flavours. I have resaved the flavours with the Beta version of Flavours and published those themes to the store but now I can't update my themes because I get the error you see in the attachment.

    I have worked around this by unpublishing the current flavours and uploading a new one.

    What is it that I don't understand?

    @Allan

    I have just updated a published Beta flavour without issues. The Beta flavour (V23) was first published as Beta, and was now updated to an higher version. Was this the case of the flavours you mention where you can't update them? If so, that is not the expected behaviour (as I could update mine)!

    Just to clarify this Flavours Store update policy: by design, we want to avoid updating existing flavours on the Store (themes from the official version) to Beta flavours that requires the Beta version (as this will remove the flavour from the official version listing).

    When creating/editing a flavour on Flavours 1.2, Flavours performs a conversion to the new flavour file format. After saving, the theme now requires the Beta version. Flavours Beta allows to publish new Beta flavour and update existing Beta flavours, but it doesn't allow to update published non-Beta to Beta. For these situations where people don't wanna wait for final 1.2 and wish to update their existing flavours to the new features, the workaround we recommend is to duplicating your existing flavours, creating *new* flavours that are copies of the original (these would then be modified and published with new Beta features).

    Well, to further clarify. Back on Flavours 1.x I began to lay the groundwork for Nixen, Ninja Blue, Dark Sandy Dunes and Mystica. Once Flavours 1.2b1 came I opened up those flavours from the previous official release and edited them for font color and rounded metal buttons and so on. It was in particular Ninja Blue that caused some issue with updating after editing the Aqua buttons because the text was hard to read in general.

    I think I understand that I perhaps should duplicate my beta flavours and then edit and re-publish those?! And I think I'll do that, if I can't update Ninja Blue anymore for instance. All my Swift themes has been re-published fine but those are build using only the beta of Flavours.

    Thanks Nuno.

    An update... it didn't turn out good for me.. I was faced with the same issue. So now I duplicated Ninja Blue and published the copy I made with the Flavours Beta. I've used the Flavours Beta since release and the flavours all have the badge that says that this theme requires beta of Flavours.

    We'll see if any further updates are need for Ninja Blue. I can think of a few but I'm waiting for further Flavours beta releases to see what's coming.

    If I can list here issues that I face right now:

    · iTunes text in mini-player is black regardless of setting window and any color to white.

    · Aqua elements are quite hard to deal with when for instance I would like a Black Active Aqua button element but a bright Normal Aqua button element. It's either white or black as it is now.

    Will that change?

    · And lastly - if you try out my Swift Color theme and open Calculator you will perhaps notice that not all buttons are equal in their roundness.

    I've attached a screenshot of my Calculator with an updated Swift Color version with black buttons. And as you can see the Equals button and Zero button are not round as the rest.

    I'm not sure if this happened with the official builds as well, but I've noticed when trying out the exclusions in the preferences some of the options aren't consistent with the results.

    Some of the window designs I use look bad on certain applications so I want to go into preferences to exclude only the window designs for that application, however the result I got when doing just that specific option was the application excluding everything including the menu bar design.

    I found that when I have Flavours Beta running with OSX Mail on Mavericks, when I try to reply to an e-mail it hangs and will not allow me to do anything except force quit.

  • FB Eye™

    You're right, now that I think about it. I've been having the same issue with Mail and replies. Never thought it was a Flavours issue, but since you're having the same problem it might just be.

    What can we do to help diagnose the problem?

    Thank you all for your feedback! Really helpful!

    @allan:

    - Must do further investigation on Itunes to check if it is possible to change that text color;

    - Found lots of inconsistency in UI when testing this on 10.9 so its not likely to change on for 1.2 (but maybe in the future);

    - Calculator buttons are 3x3 part image buttons so, it looks to me that we need to limit (on Flavours) the shape corner radius of this particular buttons; will fix this on next beta version;

    @WindOSX:

    - Yes, on next beta version;

    @Patrick:

    - Just confirmed is a new issue; will fix this on next beta version;

    @Comie/@FB Eye:

    It would be really great and appreciated if you could send me one ".crash" or ".hang" file generated when it crashes; it can be located by

        a) launching Console.app, search for Mail.app under "Diagnostic and usage information" > "User Diagnostic Reports" on the sidebar, right-click and "Reveal on Finder".

        b) or, alternatively, on Finder by browsing to "~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/"

    Thanks
